Chance the Rapper proposes to Kirsten Corley during 4th of July barbecue

Chance the Rapper celebrated Independence Day by getting engaged.

The “No Problem” singer, 25, got down on one knee to propose to longtime girlfriend Kirsten Corley during a backyard barbecue in Chicago on July 4. The singer and activist, whose real name is Chancelor Bennett, shared her answer on Twitter later that night.

A video of the actual proposal is making the rounds on social media and was picked up by the Shade Room. In it, a shirtless Chance gets down on one knee and asks Corley, whom he has been dating since 2013, to be his wife. “Kirsten Katrina Corley, will you make me a man and be my wife?” he says while guests scream with joy.

Their loved ones were thrilled. His younger brother, rapper Taylor Bennett, shared a group photo with the happy couple after the proposal, with Corley, who is the mother of Chance’s 2-year-old daughter, Kensli, flashing her ring. However, he later deleted it. A friend shared a series of photos, including one of their daughter coming over to them to celebrate the happy news. (Click through the photos to see it.)

The pair’s road to the altar hasn’t been without bumps. Together since 2013, the couple split in May 2016 after the birth of their daughter, and found themselves at odds legally. Corley filed court documents to officially declare Chance the father, but requested that she remain the girl’s “sole caretaker” and that he provide child support. However, by January 2017 they had patched things up. When he won a Grammy the next month, he gave a shout-out to both Corley and Kensli.

There’s no word on when the wedding will take place, but Chance the Husband has a nice ring to it, no?
