Cat Parent Shares Kitty’s Favorite Toy and It’s the Last Thing Anyone Expected

Cats are known for their playful and curious nature. Sometimes, they can find entertainment in the simplest things, including trash.

As you can see in the video, posted on October 4, by the owners of Mauri, the tuxedo cat, who just loves to dig and play with trash, he clearly is obsessed.

It's just another "cat thing," apparently.

As you may know, cats are attracted to objects that have interesting textures and can move easily. Trash, such as crumpled paper or plastic bags, can provide both of these elements to cats, and the rustling sound of the way trash moves when they play with it can be intriguing to them.

However, trash can also often carry interesting scents, especially if it contains food remnants or discarded items. Cats have a keen sense of smell, just like dogs, and they may be drawn to the various smells associated with the trash.

My cat does that too, but his favorite is unraveling the toilet paper.

Sometimes, cats play with trash because they're bored, curious, or don't have other toys or stimuli readily available. If you provide your cat with a variety of toys and interactive playtime, they may be less likely to focus on trash.

Cats are also attracted to new and novel objects, so if you recently disposed of something in the trash, it may have caught your cat's attention simply because it's something different in their environment.

And hey, as long as your cat doesn't try to eat what's inside the trash can and you supervise what it's fishing out, let it have some fun before the trash gets discarded again.
