Castlevania Nocturne Richter trailer still

Castlevania: Nocturne was announced earlier in the year, and the new Netflix Castlevania series subsequently got a release date and a teaser trailer in July. We’re still a couple weeks out from the series’ release, but those excited for it will be pleased to know that the first episode will premiere a teensy bit earlier than the rest.

Netflix has announced that it will be holding an early digital premiere for Castlevania: Nocturne the day before the general release, on September 27, 2023. The premiere will be shown on Netflix’s Twitch page, as well as Netflix’s website, and won’t require viewers to be a Netflix subscriber to tune in.

It comes as part of a new initiative from Netflix called Drop 01, which Netflix says is “a virtual showcase celebrating the best of Netflix’s genre animation series”. The showcase is said to feature announcements and sneak peaks at upcoming animated series, and is expected to show information for both Japanese anime and Western animation alike.

It’s not known how long Drop 01 will last for, or what format it will take, but we suspect it might be somewhat similar to, say, a Nintendo Direct or a Sony State of Play. What shows will be showcased is also a mystery, as is whether or not there will be future installments of Drop 01.

Here are the times for Netflix’s first Drop 01:

September 27, 2023

  • PT: 9:00am

  • ET: 12:00 midday

  • BST: 5:00pm

  • CEST: 6:00pm

  • IST: 9:30pm

September 28, 2023

  • JST: 1:00am

  • AEST: 2:00am

Netflix also released a brand-new trailer for Castlevania: Nocturne, showing off the main cast of characters doing cool things and saying cool lines. It’s well worth a watch, and if you’re a Castlevania fan like me it will almost certainly give you goosebumps.

All eight episodes of Castlevania: Nocturne will be released on September 28, 2023.
