Candide Thovex Ups The Ante In New Clip

Over the weekend, professional skier Candide Thovex provided further evidence that he's one of the best ever to grace the world of skiing.

This time, Thovex double-backflipped through a consequential rock gap.

Thovex has already shared footage of him tricking this gap. In a clip posted in December of this winter, he launched a massive cork 360 between the rocks.

In nearly every article I've written about Thovex, I've noted that, at this point, his continued ability to ski at the highest level has gotten, well, ridiculous, given he's now 41 years old. This notion inspired POWDER's April Fool's article, which, as a joke, claimed that Thovex wasn't real but a collection of stunt doubles.

However, Thovex is very real, somehow capable of leading a decades-spanning ski career that's left him in the spotlight longer than almost anyone else.

If I were still writing an April Fool's article, I'd attribute Thovex's seemingly never-ending career to something outlandish, like the fountain of youth. The reality is likely much less absurd—Thovex probably relies on dedication, fitness, and plenty of fruits and vegetables.

While that healthful combination won't make the average skier the second coming of Thovex, it can allow you to, like Thovex, continue skiing hard far beyond your mid-20s. It's all about determining where your priorities lie.

Here's the April Fool's piece about Thovex.
