Canadian Ski Resort Travels Back In Time With Cheap Tickets And Retro Music

It's time to hit the thrift store, clean out your closet, and track down your best vintage outfit—Big White Ski Resort, British Columbia, is turning back the clock with discounted lift tickets and throwback DJ sets all week to celebrate its 60th anniversary of operations.

The weeklong party, which kicked off yesterday, runs until April 14th—Big White's closing day. $60 adult and $30 tickets for seniors and kids are available during the special. Libations and food, too, are discounted at various locations in service of amplifying the good times.

Each day of the week corresponds to a different decade, running from the 1960s on Monday to the 2000s on Friday (Sunday the 14th features hot dogs and hip hop at The Globe restaurant—not sure what decade I'd place that in, but hot dogs and hip hop are timeless).

A crew of DJs is in on the plan, playing sets with bangers from the decade of the day at The Woods between 2 P.M. and 4 P.M. Monday through Friday.

The question remains, though: which decade produced the best ski music? The 60s had the Beach Boys, but the 2000s had Beyoncé, Maroon 5, and—last but not least—Nickelback. That latter lineup is tough to beat, particularly if you have a fondness for looking at photographs.

Wherever you stand in the great musical battle of the generations, one thing isn't up for debate: discounted lift tickets can't be beaten. Grooving to a decades-worth of tunes is the cherry on top.
