Britney Spears reflected on this past year in a vulnerable message, opening up about anxieties and more as she looked to the future.

The singer took to Instagram as the end of 2023 approached, sharing a photo of text that read, "Dear Past, thank you for the lessons. Dear Future, I am ready!"

But Spears took to the caption to share a meaningful note about her past struggles, starting by saying, "Father forgive me but I’m not ready!!! I’ve been through too much this year and I need to learn how to breathe again and learn to be in the present moment with out being afraid with so much anxiety."

She went on to state that "Staying busy in certain moments has saved my life," while also sharing her desire to have a plan, both for things like horseback riding and "reason and meaning in my life."

The 42-year-old, who is going through a divorce from husband Sam Asghari, also asked for forgiveness for "not being perfect" and losing her temper, adding, "I'm only human."

After requesting some guidance, Spears ended the emotional note by proclaiming, " Thank you for my baby Snow … she is God to me and I’m so thankful to her !!!!" referring to her newest pet, a small puppy named Snow.

Spears appeared to adopt Snow in August, not long after Asghari filed for divorce. She introduced the tiny puppy to the world in a video, showing just how small he was as he walked around her feet.

Although Spears seemed to face some difficulties this year, she also had some major success. The mother of two released her memoir, The Woman in Me, on Oct. 24, and it sold 1.1 million copies in the U.S. during its first week, as reported by Forbes.

The Woman in Me featured many revelations about Spears' past, with the singer opening up about her family, her music career, the conservatorship and more.
