Breckenridge Sees First Official Snowfall Of The Season

Sound the alarms ladies and gentlemen. Winter is coming, and she's coming in a hurry.

Breckenridge, Colorado, one of the most popular ski resorts in the country, is sharing photos of their first 'official' snowfall of the season. The resort posted a photo of what appeared to be snow on August 12th, but skeptics now believe it was just hail.

So, without further ado, check out the stunning photos captured this morning (September 11th, 2023) of fresh flakes covering Breckenridge's highest peaks:

The naysayers might have been able to steal our excitement about last month's alleged 'snow rainbow', but there's no doubt that today's photos show Breck's first dusting of the season.

The resort has stated that they're aiming to open for skiing and snowboarding on November 10th, 2023, weather and conditions permitting.

Our lovely readers in Colorado will need to wait two long months before sliding on snow at Breck, but today's snowfall tells us one thing- Winter Is Coming.

The Stark's of Winterfell's cliche saying feels appropriate considering how this summer has felt particularly long and warm.

For some reason, a quick wave of relief washes over me every time I repeat/write it. Seeing snow brushed on the peaks of Breck's highest mountains produced a similar feeling.

Winter. Is Coming. Are you ready?
