Blind and Deaf Bulldog at California Shelter Has Everyone Falling in Love
He doesn’t even have a name—but everyone at this California shelter is falling in love with him. This Bulldog is deaf and blind, and is looking for a forever home.
Not much is known about his background, but this sweet boy is looking for the best home to spend the holidays in. If his forever family is out there, this boy is waiting at the Stanislaus Animal Shelter in Modesto, California.
This poor boy looks so confused to be at the shelter. When given pets by the staff members there, he absolutely melts into the floor. He just loves affection and takes every opportunity to snuggle up with someone.

This dog would make the best companion for someone who is home a lot throughout the day to spend time with him. He definitely loves attention, and would probably grow lonely without someone home with him.
We’re not sure if he’s good with other dogs, but most of the time, deaf and blind dogs can find a “guide dog”—another dog that is able to help them navigate life and provide support.
Life With a Special Needs Dog
While this pup is definitely different, it doesn’t mean that his abilities are any less than another dog! It will not take him long at all to get into a routine at a new home. He will just have to learn the different parts of the house, which may take a little time.
There may need to be a few adjustments made to the house in order to make it safe for the dog, starting by blocking off stairs. You can avoid any accidents by doing this, and eventually the dog will remember where they are.
The senses in a deaf and blind dog are definitely heightened through touch, which he uses to navigate the world. He also can use his nose to pinpoint where he is in the house.
Celebrating Your Dog’s Abilities
Every dog is good at something, whether it be fetch or cuddling. When a dog has special needs, it is very important to celebrate his special abilities in return. Maybe he’s really good at being a guard dog, or can catch a ball from yards away.
By celebrating your dog’s special abilities, you are choosing to shift away from focusing on the disabilities that he has. This can be letting him guide you on a walk at the park or letting him pick his food for that night’s dinner. No matter how you chose to celebrate him, he will be feeling all full of love!
