Biologist Goes for a Walk on the Beach at the Exact Moment a Nest of Baby Sea Turtles Hatches

Some planned-out moments can be special enough to remember forever, but biologist and 'jungle guy' @philtorresnature recently stumbled upon something he never dreamed of. He was out for a walk on a beach when he noticed a nest of baby sea turtles!

The baby turtles had just hatched, so Phil witnessed their first moments of life. On August 8, he shared the once-in-a-lifetime memory with his TikTok followers, who were just as enchanted with the sea turtles as the biologist.

This is incredible! We've seen plenty of pictures of videos of newly-hatched sea turtles trekking toward the ocean, but we can only imagine how special and humbling it would feel to witness this in real life. We'd definitely stay for the whole nest to hatch and make it to the ocean!

"I would have stayed and made sure no birds messed with them," explained viewer @radd678. We like your plan! Several other commenters said the very same thing, so we'd like to think that baby turtles everywhere have good samaritans to watch over them.

Sea birds can pose a big threat to baby sea turtles in their first moments of life, but they're not the only predators to worry about. Raccoons, crabs, fish, and foxes sometimes prey on sea turtle hatchlings or eggs. It might be sad, but that's nature! Besides, many young turtles survive into adulthood, when they can start working toward creating eggs of their own.

As one popular Disney movie says, 'it's the circle of life,' but it was a reference to another animated movie that had us smiling from ear to ear.

"And coo-coo-ca-choo, they find their way back to the big ol’ blue," wrote @the__mouse. We totally read that in Crush the Turtle's voice! Finding Nemo was a childhood staple for so many, and it's probably one of the many reasons why people like Phil love to witness moments like this.
