The term “sleeping beauties” probably takes your mind to the classic fairytale, but if you're fashion- and beauty-obsessed you'll immediately recognize it as the 2024 Met Gala theme. The fairytale theme is paired with an even dreamier dress code: “Garden of Time,” which can only mean there will be an abundance of floral appliqué this year.

The infamous red carpet has seen its fair share of feathers, chain mail (we'll never forget, Zendaya), and plenty of dramatic trains in years past, and we only anticipate more of the like this year. Zendaya may be dressed like a fairytale villain but we're rooting for her anyway. She gave art goth realness for this year's Met Gala, with cherry cola eye shadow and vampy burgundy lips and nails. Her look was made extra-striking with thin ‘90s brows. And how could you miss the elaborate fascinator on her head? Before fixing the fancy headpiece on the actor's head, hairstylist Ursula Stephen used the Living Proof Triple Bond Complex before blowing the hair dry and adding the 5-in-1 Styling Treatment to fashion a tousled low bun.

Jennifer Lopez

JLo floated onto the 2024 Met Gala carpet looking like a fairy queen. Her barely-there icy makeup added an otherworldly essence to her already ethereal look while her messy bun kept it down to earth. Model Ashley Graham brought cat woman flair to the Met red carpet with these spiky baby bangs. Hairstylist Justine Marjan used the Tresemmé Extra Hold Hairspray to fashion the “dark fairytale-inspired” hairstyle and keep it intact throughout the night. Her rosy blush and glossy lips gave her otherwise edgy look a softness that adds the perfect balance.

Emma Chamberlain went for the sultry villain vibe and nailed it. The smudged brown eyeliner, slicked-back hair (crafted by hairstylist Sami Knight using the Bellami Silk Seam Hair Extension), and precisely lined lips have us trembling in the best way.

Keke Palmer

Keke Palmer brought drama and sparkle to the red carpet by bedazzling the side of her sky-high ponytail and we're mesmerized. Though less of a statement, her makeup is not to be overlooked. Makeup artist Kenya Alexis gave Palmer a soft glam look using the Milk Makeup Matte Bronzer to add warmth and definition to the face.

Karol G's Met Gala makeup will make you do a double-take. At first, you might think she kept it simple with gloss and a shimmery shadow. Then, you'll see her elf ears peeking from her long, platinum hair styled by Cesar Ramirez. To create this Khaleesi-esque hairstyle, Ramirez prepped the singer's hair with the Aveda Smooth Infusion Style Prep on freshly washed hair and Smooth Infusion Perfect Blow Dry before heat styling. “I used the Hot Tools Triple Barrel Waver to create soft ethereal waves, working the iron on large sections to create loser larger waves,” says Ramirez.

Zendaya

Leave it to Zendaya to turn out two jaw-dropping looks for this year's Met Gala. For her second look, the actor fashioned a bouquet on her head which brightened up her black gown. If you look closely you'll notice the shimmering pink eye shadow in the corners of her eyes (swoon).

Kerry Washington stunned on the carpet in her shortest haircut yet: a pixie with spiky tousled bangs. Her rosy pink makeup done by makeup artist Carola Gonzalez featured an assortment of Bobbi Brown products including the Pot Rouge in Pink Flame layered with the Powder Blush in Gallery on her cheeks; the Luxe Matte Lipstick in Neutral Rose topped with the Extra Plump Tinted Lip Serum in Bare Blossom for slightly shiny lips.

Gwendoline Christie didn't come to play with this theme. The blonde whirlwind hair and doll-like makeup scream main character of a fairytale—we're enchanted. If her makeup looks familiar, you're probably reminded of Pat McGrath's alien doll makeup for the Maison Margiela couture show earlier this year. Makeup artist Daniel Kolaric used the Pat McGrath Skin Fetish Blush in Divine Rose on the high points of the cheeks and the Pat McGrath Mattetrance Lipstick in Rouge 8 to create a realistic porcelain look.

Greta Lee

Rock-and-roll meets garden fairy for Greta Lee's Met Gala look. We love her rosy pink cheeks and lips—and her jet-black pixie mullet adds a cool-girl edge.

Da'Vine Joy Randolph

Rapunzel has entered the chat—oh wait, it's Da'Vine Joy Randolph. (Even better!) The actor had long, copper hair (colored by Tai Simon) that contrasted her custom denim Gap gown designed by Zac Posen.

Simon used a blend of Wella Professionals products: Blondor Powder Lightener, Welloxon Perfect 40 vol, Welloxon Perfect 20 vol, Koleston Perfect 7/43, and Koleston Perfect 77/43 on a custom wig to create this “ginger dream.” If you look closely, you'll also see her dazzling long blue nails with silver rhinestones.

One of the standout nail looks of the evening came from Lil Nas X, who had extra-long, water-inspired nails with a transparent base and 3D droplets. Nail artist Temeka Jackson used OPI products including the OPI GelColor in Go Big or Go Chrome and the OPI GelColor Stay Strong Base Coat to secure the rhinestones onto each nail.

Amanda Seyfried

Amanda Seyfried's commitment to the theme reached new heights as she painted her hair silver and molded it into these beautiful swirls. If that wasn't dramatic enough, she wore Lancôme L'Absolu Rouge Drama Matte Lipstick in 509 Rêve Toujours, a bright violet-purple lipstick.

In the enchanted forest of the 2024 Met Gala, Taraji P. Henson is the prettiest flower of them all. The actor and brand founder adorned her updo with pink flowers that matched her blush and frosty lips. We're crying over Doja Cat's Met Gala makeup—and apparently, so is she. The rapper perfectly ruined her Pat McGrath makeup with silver glitter tear stains. Her sharp smoky eye (painted with the Pat McGrath Mothership X: Moonlit Seduction Palette) and thin brows stayed intact.

Elsa has been real quiet since Rachel Zegler walked the red carpet in this icy blue look—complete with shimmering blue eyeshadow and glassy skin. Her hair was tucked behind her ears, by hairstylist Clayton Hawkins using Mane and Dove hair care products, to let her makeup take center stage.
