The Best April Fools Day Jokes From Around The Ski Industry

Skiers love cities, electric cars, and crowds. That's exactly why Jason Levinthal, creator of J Skis, created the world’s first Tesla Motors Powered Electric Ski. See below.

The skis have a modern-looking Tesla emblem on the topsheets, something every skier was searching for. Jason explains that J Skis just builds the skis, and Tesla designed the motor. He explains this very convincingly to strangers in the ski lodge.

The best part has to be blasting by backcountry skiers on their ascent. If there's one thing skiers hate, it's exercise. And if you can have a constant whirring noise while you're outside in otherwise silent nature, why not?

The joke goes deep... Jason set up a pre-order page with all of the history and specs, and then if you click the link to buy, you get sent to a big, yellow April Fools day page.

Some people were bummed about this, writing mean comments to Jason on his Instagram post. One commenter said, "It’s funny that you wasted a week of your life making this idiotic video, just so you could post it on April fools."

Jason remained loyal to the joke, saying, "I wish it only took a week! We've been working on this for 2 years now around the clock. Definitely exhausting in addition to all my usual responsibilities running J Skis, but well worth it in the long run for the benefit of the sport!"

That it is. After all, in Jason's words, it's just skiing.

Lake Tahoe Problems, a social media account dedicated to goofing on mountain town life and bad drivers in Tahoe, also joined in the April Fools fun. The account posted something they knew would entice their audience.

The account wrote, "viewer discretion advised! Absolutely nasty crash on 80 this morning." This, of course, pays homage to the common car accidents that occur on I-80 (of course, this is due to heavy snow... which Tahoe saw none of today)!

We're glad this one is just a joke. Commenters joined in the fun, writing things like "never thought the waves could get that big in the lake" and "how did that tiger get loose?"

Jerry of the Day, another comedic social media page dedicated to wipeouts and general goosing on ski culture, declared that they are "officially done posting Jerrys."

Solitude celebrated people working on the chairlift. As a remote worker, this joke is pretty funny. I have been guilty of zooming into a meeting from the Ski Patrol shack at Palisades Tahoe, but I can't recommend it.

Mountain towns can be crazy places. But no crazier than the people who live in them.

Perhaps the greatest joke of all comes from a weather forecasting service. Utah Daily Snow reposted to X (twitter) a quote from Brian Brettschneider, who said, "if April ended today, it would be the driest April on record."

Good thing that's not possible, because April has big shoes to fill after this latest March.
