Behind the Menu: South Carolina’s largest food truck festival returns to Myrtle Beach at new, bigger site

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — If you are a foodie, you are going to love this; happening Friday through the weekend, the Myrtle Beach Food Truck festival is back, bigger and better than ever.

NS Promos event manager Henry Bresadola said the event has moved to a bigger space this year to accommodate more food trucks, vendors and the large crowd of thousands. There will be nearly 90 food trucks, live music and craft vendors.

“We pretty much have every type of food that you can imagine,” he said.

Savory, sweet, and even different ethnic foods. You name it, you’ll likely be able to find it at the annual festival.

“From a bunch of different cultures, we have some Philippine vendors, Puerto Rican and different Latin cuisines as well as your traditional American fair,” Bresadola said.

There’s something for everyone, and Bresadola said it’s a good opportunity to expand your palate by trying something new.

“It’s a good mix of our local food trucks, but we bring in a lot of out-of-town ones as well,” he said. “It’s maybe a 50-50 mix.”

The largest food truck event in South Carolina gives people a chance to find some of their local favorites and also check out eateries from out of town. There are food trucks traveling from around the U.S. just for the event.

“We have trucks from Georgia to Tennessee all the way up to Maryland and everywhere in between,” Bresadola said.

The festival brings in a huge crowd to the Grand Strand, and that’s why the event has expanded this year to a new, bigger location: The old Myrtle Square Mall site. That also allows for roughly 1,500 free on-site parking spots.

I’m mostly excited about a lot of the newer vendors that we have,” Bresadola said. “Some of the more original ones, and with it growing every year and gaining a popularity, we are able to bring in some that we traditionally wouldn’t be able to bring in from farther out that people don’t see on a regular basis.”

The festival is from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday. It wraps up at 5 p.m. on Sunday.
