Beachfront restaurant Castaways at North Avenue Beach expected to reopen

CHICAGO — Castaways, a popular restaurant on Chicago’s lakefront, is expected to reopen this summer after being closed for a year.

The spot, located at North Avenue Beach is expected to open Memorial Day weekend with a new name and look.

The Stefani Restaurant Group said in a press release:

“The two-level, 22,000 square foot space will bring the nostalgia, energy and excitement patrons knew and loved for many years with a modernized and fresh approach.”

The team said the restaurant will have the same ship shaped exterior design along with the same atmosphere but with a new name and an elevated look that will bring the atmosphere of a modern beach club.

The space will include revamped dining decks, bar areas, patio space and multiple cabanas available for rent and private events.

The spot announced on social media in June 2023 that it will be closed for renovations.
