Barbra Streisand celebrated former president Jimmy Carter's landmark 99th birthday on Sunday, Oct. 1, with a witty message from her and her husband.

"Dear Mr. President, One of my friends just turned 98 and another one just turned 101," the note began. "Any way you look at it - you will live forever!!"

On the bottom, Streisand, who turned 81 in April, wrote, "Sending you our best wishes," signed by both the EGOT winner and her husband, actor James Brolin.

Streisand added in the caption, "Happy 99th Birthday to the great President Jimmy Carter! #JimmyCarter99."

Fans of both Streisand and Carter flooded the comments with birthday wishes and notes of appreciation. One wrote, "Hope his birthday is a beautiful one….. he and Mrs Carter are good people and fantastic roll [sic] models. The world needs more people like them."

"In my opinion, the best post president in the history of the country," wrote another, before adding, "He has contributed so much since he left office, while encouraging us to believe in ourselves and others for the betterment of humankind. ❤️🙌👏."

"Happy birthday, President Carter! Lovely sentiment, Barbra and Jim! ❤️😊," said a third.

The praise for Carter continued in the comments, while many simply loved Streisand's kindness and effort to personally highlight the 39th president's birthday.

Carter officially went into hospice at the start of 2023, but he continues to live at home in Georgia with his wife, spending as much time as he can with his family. In May, it was announced that the former first lady Rosalynn Carter, who celebrated her 96th birthday in August, was diagnosed with dementia.
