Lea Thompson; Christopher Lloyd

Lea Thompson is celebrating one of her Back to the Future co-stars this week, while helping pal Christopher Lloyd ring in a milestone birthday.

The actor, known and loved for his portrayal of Dr. Emmett "Doc" Brown in the sci-fi film trilogy, recently turned 85, prompting his former cast mate and good friend Thompson to share a loving tribute on social media.

"Happy 85 birthday to my dear friend. @mrchristopherlloyd It has been a joy and honor to travel through time with you," the actress, 62, wrote in an Instagram post earlier this week, while sharing a snap of the twosome posing for the camera together.

Thompson added on to her tribute by referencing a detail from the iconic film, telling Lloyd, "I bet when you turn 88 we're gonna see some serious shit." (Fans of the cult classic will remember that 88 mph is the speed the DeLorean needed to travel in order to travel through time.)

Thompson wrapped up her post by telling her co-star, "I love you 💕," garnering a response from Lloyd, who replied in the comments, "Thank you my dear friend @lea_thompson."

Thompson's post was met with tons more birthday messages for Lloyd in the comments, including a note from Leslie Zemeckis, the wife of Back to the Future director Robert Zemeckis, who commented, "Still 21 at heart."

"Christopher Lloyd is one great example that age really is just a number," someone else wrote, as another user quipped, "This is the proof that he still has DeLorean. He has never aged from 1955 to 2023 😂."

"HBD to Dr. Brown! Back to the Future rules! 🎉🎈🎂," another fan gushed.
