Australian Ski Resort Resurrects Winter With Manmade Snow

Winter in Australia has been wrapped since mid-September. It was a tough run for Australian resorts, with Mother Nature doling out minimal snowfall.

But the aftershock of a challenging season isn't stopping Mt. Buller from resurrecting winter.

Here's the latest from Mt. Buller.

Months after the season concluded, Mt. Buller is hosting the Summer Shred Sesh with manmade snow.

The central component of the event is a terrain park, complete with a bevy of freestyle features. Other festivities include refreshments, access to the resort's trampoline park, and a pump track.

The event goes off at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow (Australian time) and, if last year's Summer Shred Sesh is anything to go off, Mt. Buller locals are in for a rollicking good time. Click here for more information.

As Mt. Buller writes in the event's web description, "The 'Summer Shred Sesh' is a seriously fun combination of both seasons."

That's a mantra I can get behind. Summer shredding, in whatever form, is tough to beat.

Of course, I love skiing in the winter—powder turns are great and all that. But the allure of skiing without its obvious drawbacks—cold toes, biting winds, the list goes on—is undeniable. Who wouldn't want to combine our favorite sport with a day at the beach?

I'd suggest that you mosey on over to Mt. Buller, but odds are, if you're reading POWDER, you're a Northern Hemisphere resident gearing up for winter. For us Yankees, summer is out of sight and out of mind. Now, all we need is a little more snow.
