Attention 'HQ Trivia' players! Host Scott Rogowsky shares secrets to winning cash on the spot

If you’re looking for a mid-afternoon pick-me-up or an easy way to make some extra money, you’ve probably already heard of the daily show HQ Trivia, found in the app store (for free!).

The host of the show, the gregarious Scott Rogowsky, otherwise known by the nicknames Quiz Daddy, Quiz Khalifa, Quizzie McGuire, and many more, talked to The Morning Breath’s Jackie and Claudia Oshry about the twice-daily show and how contestants can improve their chances of winning a cash prize.

“Those first few questions, there are no tricks there, generally,” Rogowsky says. In other words, don’t think so hard, everyone!

The questions, which focus on pop culture, current events, literature, and general history, are presented in a rapid-fire format, so players don’t have the opportunity to Google answers or cheat in any way. For reference, the most effective way to cheat is to share an account with your smart friend — and then split the earnings.

While explaining that many of the answers to the questions are easier than people realize, Rogowsky admits there are a few stealth curveballs thrown in throughout the challenge.

Host Malone, as some call him, encourages contestants to ask themselves, “How are they asking this question? Why would they even be asking this question? Is it too easy?”

For example, if the question pinpoints a certain cultural reference, find that same reference in the answers you’re considering.

Thinking time is limited, and Claudia Oshry asks Rogowsky, “At what point does the obvious answer stop being the correct answer?”

“It gets towards the halfway point,” Rogowsky admits.

HQ Trivia goes live every day at 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. EST, right on your smartphone.
