Asa Vermette Shares Footage Of The Crash That Broke His Hip

Asa Vermette is perhaps the most promising up and coming American downhill racer. The 17 year old from Durango, Colorado made waves last season when he beat out some of the best American and Canadian racers to snag 2nd in the US Open Downhill.

Unfortunately, Asa went down hard at the Tennessee Nationals last weekend and broke his hip. Here is the clip he shared of that crash.

Asa says he will only be off the bike for a few weeks and if he wasn't a mere 17 years old, we would be calling BS on that. But, that is the magic of youth, you can break your hip and not be too worried about missing an extended period of time.

Unfortunately for all downhill fans though, both Asa and the other promising youngster - is it even fair to say promising? I mean he has delivered completely till now - Jackson Goldstone will be out with injury for a while. We aren't clear as to when the latter will be back but it's looking like it may be next year.
