“Arr, Matey!” Cher Debuts Bold New Look

Listen, we are not here to judge Cher about anything. She is C H E R and she has earned the right to do, and wear, and say, whatever the heck she damn well pleases! But – but – that doesn’t mean we are going to let her get away with things without some good-natured ribbing.

And so it was that the actress/singer/Twitter icon, attended Late Show with David Letterman last night, outfitted in her best pirate gear: a fringed leather jacket, drop-crotch jersey trousers tucked into knee high boots, and her long, jet-black hair, kept in place by a beige bandanna. It was Captain Hook-meets-Jack Sparrow fabulousness.

The resemblance was especially uncanny when Cher posed next to Radioman, a formerly homeless New York City fixture who has since made appearances on TV shows and movies alike. (New York is the concrete jungle were dreams are made of!) We couldn’t help that the two bore a striking resemblance to Captain Hook and Mr. Smee.

But hey, let’s not forget that Cher’s looks, once ridiculed, went on to inspire Kim Kardashian’s Met dress, the first design from Peter Dundas as creative director of Roberto Cavalli. So who knows? Perhaps in 10 years, we’ll all be doing pirate chic.
