This awards season a handful of Hollywood’s leading ladies created the classiest trend we’ve seen for spring: sleeves that make a statement.

Eagle-eyed red carpet watchers may have noticed that the perfect complement to a simple, flattering gown is a touch of playfulness on the side.

These fashion stars expertly paired their beautiful gowns in dark tones with off-the-shoulder arm accessories, ranging from demurely delicate to powerfully puffy.

“Barbie” star and Academy Award nominee for Best Supporting Actress, America Ferrera, went for a timeless version of the trend, wearing a custom Dior gown with subtle organza accents at the Screen Actors Guild Awards. The clever sleeves added an element of femininity and fun to an otherwise pared-down look.

“Emily in Paris” lead Lily Collins opted for opulence in her interpretation of the trend. Sheathed in a Tamara Ralph fall 2023 couture dress with metallic floral decolletage, Collins made for a puff-sleeve princess while attending the BAFTAs.

The actress proved that sleeves can enhance an ensemble without overwhelming it, rocking the look with her favorite red lip.

Attending the Governors Awards, “Origin” director Ava DuVernay wore a Louis Vuitton gown that fit like a dream. The beautiful black dress with a sweetheart neckline contrasted beautifully with the structured white sleeves.

Unlike her companions, DuVernay chose to further highlight the pop of white with elbow-length black gloves, which melted effortlessly into the look.
