Argentinian Ski Resort Extends Seasonal Terrain Offerings After September Snowfall

After a rough start to the ski season, South America is finishing off winter strong.

Today, September 13th, Cerro Catedral, an Argentinian ski resort, announced that it will extend portions of its terrain offerings until October 15th.

From the caption:

"We extend the 2023 season so you can continue enjoying this new mountain experience that only Cathedral has for you ⛷️ September arrived with snow, and we want you to make the most of the winter season. ❄️🗓️ Starting October 2nd our South Side tracks and midways will remain open until October 15th so you can ski your favorite mountain."

September has treated resorts throughout South America well with plentiful snowfall. For instance, earlier this week,  Las Leñas, another Argentinian resort, woke up to a staggering three meters of snow (that's about 10 feet!) on its upper mountain.

And Ski Portillo, Chile, enjoyed three feet of fresh snow last week, leading to a season extension until October 1st.

These top-notch conditions weren't guaranteed. Throughout South America, resorts struggled for most of the Southern Hemisphere winter season with low snowfall and decidedly "meh" conditions.

That changed in August when a huge storm rolled in, depositing several feet of snow throughout the region.

Since then, the powder train hasn't stopped. As evidenced by Cerro Catedral's extension, we're witnessing one of the greatest Southern Hemisphere ski season comebacks in years.

Shred on, folks!
