Many of today's most popular running shoe brands like Hoka and On have doubled down on their business by adding complementary lifestyle apparel to their footwear selection. Arc’Teryx did the opposite—the brand developed a cult following for their technical, waterproof jackets and gear and then a catalog of outdoor shoes to go with them. Thankfully, the brand's shoes are designed just as well as the outerwear, including one popular trail running style that recently went on sale at REI.

Typically $165, the Arc’Teryx Norvan LD 3 Trail Running Shoes are now available for $131—a 20% discount. The shoes have earned over 60 five-star ratings at REI from shoppers who say they're "so durable" for any terrain. There are two colors to choose from and they're available in sizes 6 through 12.5, but Arc'Teryx products tend to sell out quickly so grab yours soon.

The Norvan LD 3 trail runners come in a vibrant yellow or blue shade, a contrast from the typical earthy colors found on many hiking shoes. While the unique aesthetic is part of its appeal, the shoes are designed to perform. They feature Vibram outsoles, which are known for providing superior traction and durability. The mesh upper is breathable but abrasion-resistant, thanks to the Cordura fabric. The shoes also feature maximum cushioning for all-day comfort on day-long hikes (the "LD" stands for "long-distance"). Despite its cushioning, the sneakers have a lightweight build, and they’re a great option for off-trail, too.

Shoppers appreciated the build quality and ergonomic design, with one writing, “I have over 650 miles on my first pair of LD3 and bought two more pair as long-term replacements. I have never had a shoe so perfectly tailored for me and my feet. Wide in the toe box and snug around the instep and the beak has never slipped. I have exceedingly difficult feet to fit, but these do it.”

The shoes have also been known to accommodate different foot issues, according to shoppers. “Amazingly light, supportive, durable, and good looking, even covered in mud,” a shopper said. “I have hallux rigidus, so I need a shoe with a decent rocker that's not super flexy at the toes. This shoe is perfect for me. I still put an insert in, but there is room. The upper breathes well and has enough stretch to accommodate swollen feet.”
