April's Artists of the Month announced

Apr. 12—The Weatherford Art Association recently announced the winners of Artist of the Month for April.

First place was awarded to artist Michael McCarty for his acrylic painting "Chandor Autumn," a scenic landscape capturing the peacefulness of the water and early autumn trees at Chandor Gardens in Weatherford. This was the first completed attempt at an acrylic piece that artist completed as his usual medium is watercolor. This and other artworks by McCarty will be featured at The Doss Heritage and Culture Center throught April.

Second place went to Carmen Davilius for "Magical Tulip Field," a dreamy flower photographic print on canvas and enhanced with acrylic medium in a custom frame. Weatherford Art Association invites you to view this work, on display in April at First Bank Texas in downtown Weatherford.

Third place honors were awarded to Randy Loyer for his oil painting "Honker" of a beautiful Cinnamon Teal duck that he created for an old Army friend representing the outdoors that his friend loves and his Army nickname "Honker." Each month, WAA members can compete for first, second, and third place ribbons and the opportunity to showcase their artwork at local Weatherford banks and The Doss Heritage and Culture Center.

In June all Artist of the Month winners will be eligible to compete for the Artist of the Year award. Images of the previous winners art will be voted on by online proxy for the award.

As part of its mission as a non-profit 501 (C) (3) corporation, the Weatherford Art Association provides monthly demonstrations to increase the knowledge of its members and support arts education for the community. Monthly meetings are held at the Senior Center, 1225 Holland Lake Drive in Weatherford from 6 to 7:45 p.m. on the fourth Monday of each month, except December. Learn more at weatherfordart.com.
