Apple Valley to observe May the 4th with Star Wars-themed fun run
The Town of Apply Valley is planning a Star Wars-themed community fun run this weekend to coincide with the unofficial galactic holiday of May the 4th.
The "May the 4th 3K and 5K Fun Run" will step off at 6 p.m. Saturday at Civic Center Park, 14999 Dale Evans Parkway, according to the Apple Valley Parks and Recreation Department. Check-in will begin at 5 p.m.
"Dress as your favorite Star Wars characters and run for the Light side or Dark side!" the agency said in a written statement. "This race is untimed, so all paces are welcome."
Participants can pre-register by Friday, or register on-site the day of the event, organizers said. The entrance fee is $15 per runner. Walkers may join in the festivities for free.
All runners will receive a finisher medal, Parks and Recreation officials added.
More information, as well as registration details for the event, can be found online at applevalley.org/Home/Components/Calendar/Event/21951/332, or by calling the Apple Valley Parks and Recreation Department at (760) 240-7880.
