Animal Rescue 'Recreates' the Solar Eclipse and It's Even Better Than the Real Deal
Pull out your special glasses because the eclipse is happening again. Okay, not really. But we are having slight deja vu after seeing the hilarious recreation that Crytal's Clefts, an animal rescue for dogs with cleft lips and palates in Cleveland, Ohio, shared online using some of their rescues.
Just like the real solar eclipse, which happened on April 8, 2024, this eclipse was too beautiful for words.
But we'll give it a shot anyway. In the video the rescue shared online, it was like we were viewing the natural event all over again — except this time the sun was a small, blonde Golden Retriever with a sun mask around its face. And the only thing eclipsing the pup's path was a French Bulldog pup dressed like the moon. So clever! We give this recreation two thumbs way up.

"We filmed the Eclipse live in case you missed it! Thank you to rescue pups Colt and Miller for helping!" the rescue joked in the caption.
It's a good thing they got the whole thing on camera because people in the comments section didn't want to miss a moment. "Can someone please confirm that this is real footage of an eclipse?" joked one person. "NASA has been real silent since this was posted," someone else kidded. "I was in my office today and couldn’t watch. I’m so glad you guys captured it," another commenter chimed in. "I DIDN'T HAVE MY GLASSES ON," one woman exclaimed. Thankfully, this is one eclipse video where you don't really have to worry about your eyes.
How to Help Crystal’s Clefts
These two pups are obviously cuties. And there are many ways you can help them and other dogs at the Crystal's Clefts rescue. The first is the easiest method — spread the word. The organization specifically focuses on dogs with cleft palates and other medical needs, something that is rare and is deserving of attention. If their message has touched your heart you can follow them on social media and share their posts. Or perhaps share their information with someone looking to adopt a dog with special needs.
Making a donation is another way to lend your support. Animal rescues need lots of supplies to take care of their animals. And in this case, the money will also go towards the medical care that these dogs so desperately need.
If you live in the Cleveland area, volunteering is perhaps the most fun way to pitch in. The organization needs help fostering their dogs, working events, and help spreading the word. You might even get to meet a pup or two! These dogs need our love and attention — as much as an eclipse if not more.
