For about $13, you can turn your regular lamp into a smart one that lights up when you ask Alexa to turn it on. You can plug your finicky Wi-Fi router into one and ask Alexa (or use Alexa’s mobile app) to restart it for you. You could cut down on energy use by plugging your appliances into these and shutting off the plugs when you’re not using them. Really, there are a lot of ways a smart plug could help you.

The lights are probably the most obvious and the nicest perk, especially if you have to climb over your sofa in the dark to turn one on (speaking from personal experience here). More than 448,000 shoppers agree that the Amazon Smart Plugs are great, too.

I bought one of these and now have several,” wrote one reviewer. “The integration with Alexa on Echo and on the phone app is seamless. I use one smart plug to turn certain lights on and off every day (light source is a lamp). Easy to set up and have had no issues connecting to my internet.”

If you’re not new to smart plugs, you may have had ones in the past that lose signal or just don’t work. Personally, I’ve used a few types of smart plugs, and the Amazon ones are the best and easiest to use. I plugged a lamp into one and used it to turn the lights on for our dog if we stayed out past dark using the Alexa app. It was also nice to say, “Alexa, turn on the living room lights,” when I didn’t feel like getting up from my comfy spot on the sofa to turn them on.

“Through the years, I’ve had different brands for plugs. I decided to try this, and was absolutely blown away how easy it was to install!” wrote another Amazon shopper. “They don’t drop like other brands, and I just installed my latest. I simply opened the app, plugged it in, waited for the prompt to give it the particular name I wanted and done! I was amazed to learn. I can now ask Alexa to add it to the group. No more stumbling around on the app.”

Anyways, get yourself one of the Amazon Smart Plugs while they’re nearly half off (they regularly cost $25). You won’t regret how much easier life is once you have one plugged in.
