Amazon Parrot Sings His Favorite Song at 3AM Like the Total Boss He Is

Talking parrots are always cool to see and hear, but if they decided to get chatty at 3 in the morning, I might feel differently about it! TikToker Kasey shared a video at the end of April of his Amazon parrot serenading him at 3AM, and it's cracking everybody up!

The video shows the parrot, whose name is Michael, standing on the couch belting out his favorite song. The song is a popular kid song that everybody knows called 5 Little Ducks. Make sure your sound is on while Michael sings the tune because he nails every word!

Michael needs a microphone! @Kasey's cool video has nearly 2 million views and thousands of likes. People couldn't get enough of the singing bird. @Best and Jess was impressed with the bird's rendition of the song "And far RA-WAY!!!!!" @Me pointed out, "The missing ‘quack’ is killing my OCD LOL!" I agree with @Old Girl who shared, "How damn cute is that. But 3am is stretching the friendship just a little bit. hahaha!" and I couldn't agree more with @Bettaful Creations who pointed out, "Everyone saying how cute this is but no one is saying how CRAZY Impressive the bird singing such a long song perfectly is!!!"

Facts About Talking Parrots

When I was growing up, we had an Amazon parrot named him Otis. He is like another sibling because he's been around so long; my parents still have him, and he's in his late 40's now. Amazon parrots are known for being big talkers. Otis has a huge vocabulary, not to mention all of the sounds that he can mimic. Amazon and African Grey parrots are known to be the most vocal of the talking birds, though Macaws can learn a few words and phrases, too.

Like Michael most birds love to sing and listen to music. Birds don't understand the lyrics to songs but they do react to music like we do. Our parrot Otis' favorite song is 'Old MacDonald Had a Farm", and he can sing it and whistle it. Here's a cool fact about birds and music: Researchers at Emory University found that when birds hear birdsongs, they respond to the music similarly to how people do. Pathways that the human brain employs when it listens to music are the same ones that a bird brain employs. Pretty cool, huh? This explains why parrots love to sing and dance so much!

Speaking of getting your groove on, how can you tell if your bird is enjoying a tune? They dance! They bob and weave, move back and forth, and display other physical responses to songs just like we do. They might not be on beat with the music, but you can tell they're dancin'!

Parrots learn by hearing the same sounds over and over again. If you have a pet parrot, make sure to play all types of music for it so that you can figure out which genre it likes the best. Some birds actually prefer one over the other while some birds hate certain genres. Once you have that figured out, play the same songs over and over and before you know it, your parrot will be singing those lyrics!
