Alexandria hosts community cookouts

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (DC News Now) — City departments, including the Alexandria Police Department, hosted the first in a series of community cookouts Tuesday, bringing together people for an evening of food, face painting, games for children, and more.

The goal of the free events is to create a fun atmosphere while connecting members of the community with a variety of resources.

In addtion to members of city departments, people with other groups also take part in the series of cookouts which run from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

  • April 23 at Ewald Park

  • April 30 at Brent Place

  • May 7 at Ruby Tucker at Tancil Court

  • May 15 at Fairlington Presbyterian Church

  • May 21 at Southern Towers

  • May 29 at Andrew Adkins

  • June 4 at CASA Chirilagua

  • June 11 at 5500 N. Morgan Street

  • June 25 at 900 W. Glebe Road

  • July 9 at Mount Vernon Recreation Center

  • July 16 at Southport Apartments

  • July 23 at Princess Square
