From an “amazing” wooden potting bench to a must-have fire pit, Aldi’s home section offers plenty of gems to help you enjoy spring and summer weather. If you’re hoping to attract bees to help pollinate your garden and keep your flowers blooming and looking their best, then you’ll want to check out one of the grocery chain’s latest additions: an adorable bee house.

Sold at Aldi by the brand Gardenline, the bee house is for sale for $8.99 and available in both A-frame house and flat-roof designs. These cute little houses provide nesting spaces for solitary bees and wasps during the warmer months. And, judging from a post on the gardening Reddit, Aldi bee houses get the job done.

“My husband saw a $5 bee house at Aldi during fall and bought it then tacked it up,” a Redditor wrote on a subreddit thread first posted five years ago. “I figured it was a waste and would be filled with not-bees. But holy cow — BEES! Guess you don’t need an expensive fancy house to please them.”

The post has nearly 200 replies and comments, with so many chiming in to share how they keep bees returning year after year, as well as the best ways to care for bee houses so they last.

Aldi sold a similar style bee and insect house in 2022, and according to a video posted on TikTok the flat-roof house measures 30x9x32 centimeters.

Attracting bees to your garden will help it thrive. In an interview with Virginia Tech published in April 2020 all about maintaining and installing native bee houses, entomologist Tim McCoy recommended placing yours in a location within 100 to 200 yards of a pollen source that receives full sun each morning. If possible, you should also place your bee house near mud, McCoy said.

Unfortunately, the Gardenline Bee House isn’t available on Aldi’s online shopping website, so you’ll have to go to your local store if you’re hoping to grab one for yourself. However, you can find a similar bee house on Amazon for $19.99 that boasts a 4.4 out of 5-star rating based on over 150 reviews.

“Mason bees are filling this guy up!” one five-star reviewer wrote. “Very pleased.”
