Alaskan Wildlife Photographer Stumbles Upon Giant Moose Resting in the Shade

As an Alaskan resident and wildlife photographer, @akfoxphoto13 is no stranger to the state's natural beauty. MJ has encountered many wild animals, too, though a recent video from August 6 is particularly fascinating for her viewers.

I've you've never seen an Alaskan moose up close, before, you'll probably be fascinated too! The huge animal was minding his own business, just resting in the shade, but this animal photographer couldn't help but snap a quick video. We would've done the very same thing!

Wow! This huge bull moose couldn't be any more stunning if he tried. He looks massive even when he's lying down, and those antlers are downright impressive too. No wonder this video already has over 100 thousand views!

When one commenter complimented the majestic moose and equally majestic video, the photographer offered her take on the scene: "Thank you! Poor guy was just so hot!" It's such a relief that he found shade when he needed it, especially with Alaskan summers becoming hotter each year.

This kind of wildlife encounter seems special to us, but it's not that unexpected to Alaskans. Humans and moose tend to populate the same areas of the state (places close to rivers and streams) so they're more frequently encountered than other animals.

In fact, the Alaskan Department of Fish and Game notes that more people are injured by moose than by many bear species in Alaska each year! They have been spotted crossing busy highways, entering hospitals, and existing closer and closer to people. This is why it's so important to be aware of your surroundings! If a moose is as still and low to the ground as the big guy in this video, it could be easy to miss.
