Alan Bersten—who joined Dancing With the Stars as a troupe member in season 20, only to get a promotion to a professional partner in season 25—shared his response to DWTS season 29 champion Kaitlyn Bristowe's warning about him.

On Wednesday, Sept. 20, Bersten commented on Bristowe calling him a "d--k" on her podcast, telling Us Weekly, “First of all, I never danced with Kaitlyn, so I don’t know why that would even come up. I take a lot of pride in my work and I make sure that above all else, my partners feel comfortable and confident in themselves.”

The publication also reported that Bersten said he "kind of" took Bristowe's words as a compliment.

At the start of September, Bristowe shared her thoughts on all of the professional partners on DWTS with fellow Bachelor Nation member and new season 32 contestant, Charity Lawson, on her podcast, Off The Vine with Kaitlyn Bristowe.

She gained attention for her comments, as she said of Bersten, "He’s kind of a d--k." Bristowe added, warning Lawson, "Well, they’re all d--ks. They’re all d--ks. I’m telling you. Buckle up.”

Along with her criticism, Bristowe spoke of Bersten's skills, telling Lawson that she could see DWTS partnering her with him, "only because he’s one of the more well-loved, I feel like, out of a lot of them. And I feel like I could see you and your fun personality with him." She added that he can be "crazy in the ballroom."

After the podcast episode was released, Bristowe addressed her comments, saying in an Instagram Story, via Us Weekly, "I can be a d—k. We can all be d—ks. Alan is one of my closest friends from the show."

"I have nothing but love and respect for him. I think it’s OK to be a d—k and push people to believe in themselves and light a fire,” she continued.

For the upcoming DWTS season 32, Bersten is partnered with Jamie Lynn Spears. Lawson's professional partner is Artem Chigvintsev, with whom Bristowe won the Mirrorball Trophy in 2020.
