Affectionate Rottweiler Eagerly Cuddling With Her Napping Human Dad Has People Smiling

Those who have had the privilege of owning or knowing dogs know that no two pups are the same. Even puppies from the same litter will develop different demeanors and personalities as they grow, so there really is a dog for anyone out there. Whether you're looking for a cuddle buddy or a hiking partner, some research and a few visits just might help you find your perfect match.

Sometimes, though, you have to be careful what you wish for! The owners of Xena the Rottweiler love her affectionate personality, but she's so affectionate, in fact, that she can't let her dad nap in peace. She desperately needed cuddles, and the silly moment that unfolded on January 1 could put a smile on anyone's face! This South African pup doesn't play when it comes to love.

OMFG--what a lovebug! Xena can't get enough of her dad, and not even naps can wait when cuddles are needed. I'd be lying if I said I'd never felt the very same way! I've bothered my dogs when they're trying to nap (remember, not all sleepy dogs are so forgiving about this) just because they looked so darn cute. For @xenarottie and her dad, it's just the other way around!

Judging by the number of entertained commenters, people can certainly relate to living with a needy dog. It reminds me of the struggle of sharing a bed with a large dog, too, though I'd never even considered Xena's Rottweiler strength. No wonder she nearly pushes her dad off the couch!

Many 'Scary' Dog Breeds Are Sweeter Than You Think

As this loving pup proves, a dog breed's 'aggressive' reputation doesn't determine an individual dog's personality. Even though Rottweilers are one of the dog breeds that people can perceive as 'scary' thanks to their muscular build, large size, and a few owners' lack of training, they tend to be just as friendly as other dogs.

Here's the catch--breeds like Rottweilers require lots of socialization, obedience training, and dog-friendly mental stimulation. They were bred to be working dogs, and that natural energy and instinct to work can lead to mischief and behavior concerns if not given an outlet. Even so, strategies for raising a well-mannered Rottweiler aren't a mystery!

Fortunately, Xena has a lot of space to play fetch and explore at her home in South Africa and often finds treasures in the yard. Because she can get all of her energy out in healthy ways, there isn't much chaos left when it's time to cuddle up for a nap with Dad.
