Aerosmith had to postpone its farewell tour due to Steven Tyler's health.

In a statement shared on social media on Friday, Sept. 29, the band confirmed that Tyler's "vocal injury [was] more serious than initially thought."

The announcement further explained, "His doctor has confirmed that in addition to the damage to his vocal cords, he fractured his larynx which requires ongoing care."

"He is receiving the best medical treatment available to ensure his recovery is swift," the update continued, "but given the nature of a fracture, he is being told patience is essential."

Per the band, the canceled shows will now be postponed to "sometime in 2024, with new dates to be announced as soon as we know more."

Thankfully, all previously-purchased tickets will be honored for the upcoming concerts. Additionally, refunds will be available for those who are unable to attend the rescheduled shows.

This update comes only a handful of weeks into the band's final tour, which officially kicked off on Sept. 2.

Tyler also shared a statement of his own in the same post, writing, "I am heartbroken to not be out there with Aerosmith, my brothers and the incredible Black Crowes, rocking with the best fans in the world. I promise we will be back as soon as we can!"

Previously, the frontman announced on Sept. 11 that he was unable to perform for a month.

"I'm heartbroken to say I have received strict doctor's orders not to sing for the next thirty days," he said at the time. "I sustained vocal cord damage during Saturday’s show that led to subsequent bleeding. We’ll need to postpone a few dates so that we can come back and give you the performance you deserve."

Aerosmith's retirement and last performances were announced in May, with a joint statement that promised fans "the best show of our lives."
