If you love seasonal kitchen gems as much as we do — like pumpkin-shaped dishes for fall and heart-shaped cookware for Valentine’s Day — you probably know that Le Creuset is the place to find them. Not only will their on-theme pieces make a visual statement in your kitchen, but they’ll also perform exceptionally for years. Just recently, the brand came out with a stunning spring collection full of pastel colors and whimsical shapes, like this flower plate (which is flying off shelves).

While the huge-impact items like the flower cocotte probably caught your eye first, we want to draw your attention to an under-the-radar piece that’ll instantly get you in the mood for spring. Even better, it’ll take up essentially zero space and won’t break the bank. The adorable Pie Bunny (which works like a pie bird) is on sale for $12, and several colors are about to sell out. Here’s why you should snag it before it’s completely gone!

What is the Pie Bunny?

You might’ve heard of pie birds, which came about in the 1930s. Pie funnels had been around much longer, but it was then that an Australian potter patented one in the shape of a black bird. (You know, as in the “four and twenty blackbirds baked in a pie” nursery rhyme.) The tiny gadgets are meant to sit in the center of a pie and serve as a steam vent, keeping the filling from overflowing.

Le Creuset has put their own seasonal spin on the classic item by shaping it in the form of a bunny. In addition to preventing your pie from boiling over, the structure has arches on the bottom that redirect moisture and keep the crust from getting soggy. Of course, it consists of Le Creuset’s signature stoneware — which is dishwasher-safe and oven-safe up to 500°F — and vibrant glazed colors. The turquoise hue is the only one fully in stock, while only a few in the light purple and white are left right now.
