STEVENS POINT – The World’s Largest Trivia Contest returns to Stevens Point next month.

The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point will once again host the world-famous trivia competition April 12-14 through its student-run radio station 90FM WWSP.

Here's what you need to know ahead of the event.

What’s the theme?

The contest’s 54th theme is "Very Superstitious." Dave Coulthurst, 90FM’s trivia coordinator, said the 2024 theme also features “an exciting twist that is leaving everyone in anticipation,” according to a release from the university.

Where does the competition take place?

The annual trivia competition is broadcast through the 90FM WWSP headquarters at the university’s Communication Arts Center at 1101 Reserve St. in Stevens Point.

What happens at this event?

The festivities will start the weekend prior to the event with a kickoff movie at 9:30 p.m. April 5 and 6 p.m. April 12 at Rogers Cinema at 2725 Church St. Tickets will be $3 at the door.

The Trivia parade will start at 4 p.m. April 12 on Maria Drive, then trivia questions will start at 6 p.m. and run through midnight April 14.

During the trivia contest, the radio station broadcasts eight questions per hour, and each team has the length of two songs to call in with the correct answer to earn points. During the event, players will travel through the community to find answers to two running questions. Other questions will include music montages and scavenger hunts.

How do you register?

Local teams must register at the radio station between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. April 8-11 and from noon to 6 p.m. April 12. Teams traveling from other areas can find registration forms and more information online at 90fmtrivia.org.

On-site registration will be $40 per team, and all proceeds benefit the general maintenance of the radio station and scholarships for student staff. Merchandise commemorating the event will also be available for purchase during registration.
