Two of the most outspoken liberal voices in cable news will take center stage at the world-famous Harlem theater for a discussion on civil rights leaders Medgar and Myrlie Evers and Joy-Ann Reid‘s best-selling book “Medgar and Myrlie: Medgar Evers and the Love Story That Awakened America.”

The “In Conversation” series — which previously featured Oprah Winfrey, Ta-Nehisi Coates, Chadwick Boseman and John Legend — aims to amplify “the voices of artists and thought leaders and explores the African American and African diasporic narrative.”

“It happened in New York: Photographs by Sylvia Plachy”

Following its massive “Book of Hov” Jay-Z exhibit last fall, the main branch of the Brooklyn Public Library is fast-becoming an in-demand spot to experience art — for free, day or night.

“It Happened in New York,” featuring nearly 40 stunning images and other ephemera from the collection of photographer Sylvia Plachy, is the centerpiece of its latest installation. A staff photographer for the Village Voice for 30 years, Plachy’s work captures the heart and soul of the city as it was during the latter part of the 20th century.

Alongside shots of musician Tom Waits, boxing promoter Don King, “Handmaid’s Tale” author Margaret Atwood and breakdancers on the boardwalk, one of the most gripping images is of the 1991 Crown Heights riots, when a clash between the Orthodox Jewish community, the Black community and the NYPD rocked the city.

“Life of Pi” star Dev Patel makes his directorial debut in this action film, which he also co-wrote and stars in. The Academy Award nominee play an unnamed character who plots to avenge his mother’s death. Inspired by the legend of Hanuman, the near two-hour revenge flick produced by Jordan Peele has drawn welcome comparisons to Keanu Reeves’ John Wick franchise. Seeing “Monkey Man” at what has been referred to as New York City’s most expensive movie theater — where food and cocktails are delivered and every seat comes with blankets — could make for a perfect date night.

“Teeth”

With his latest work, Pulitzer-winning playwright Michael R. Jackson teamed up with Anna K. Jacobs for the world premiere run of “Teeth” at the same Off-Broadway venue that launched his Tony Award-winning musical, “A Strange Loop.”

Based on Mitchell Lichtenstein’s 2007 comedy-horror film of the same name, the musical, directed by Sara Benson, centers on an evangelical Christian teenager (Alyse Alan Louis). During a violent attack, she learns she has a useful mutation that is extremely painful for would-be rapists. Ouch! Broadway veteran Steven Pasquale also stars in the work described as a “fierce, rapturous, and savagely entertaining new horror-musical.”

Niki Haris presents “Grown Ass Woman”

Though she’s mostly known as the vocal powerhouse who backed Madonna during the ’80s and ’90s (“Like A Prayer” anyone?), Niki Haris has stood the test of time as a master interpreter of song in her own right. The diva, who brought down the house at this charming Off-Broadway cabaret hotspot with her longtime collaborator Donna De Lory earlier this year, returns with a solo show featuring her take on jazz standards and popular classics.

It’s the last few days to check out Celestial Circus SciSkate at the New York Hall of Science, located in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park. The exhibit allows visitors to skate warmly indoors on their “Glice” rink — made of a solid polymer material that gives skaters the feeling that they are gliding on smooth frozen water. Note: On Monday, April 8, the exhibit’s last day of the season, the museum will host a solar eclipse watch party from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. They’ll provide the glasses and music by DJ Annie Red. Food and drinks will be available from Queens Night Market.

“Fresh, Bold & So Def Symposium: A Tribute to Women in Hip-Hop”

Last year’s celebration of hip hop’s golden anniversary lives on through this program highlighting the women who helped shape the culture. Lincoln Center partnered with The Hip-Hop Education Center for its inaugural event featuring workshops, panel discussions, fireside chats, performances and networking opportunities. Hip hop maven Sophia Chang will join other trailblazers like fashion designer Misa Hylton, DJ Jazzy Joyce, Rap Coalition founder Wendy Day and writer and producer Kim Osorio to tackle topics such as mentorship, self-care and battling misogyny.
