5 Styling Tips to Try This Summer, According to a Celeb Stylist

The summer season is finally upon us and we'll admit -- there's something about the beaming sun and blue skies that makes summer dressing that much more playful and fun. It's a good time to experiment, trial new fashion trends and have a little more fun with your choices.

This season, we caught up with celebrity stylist Carlotta Constant, who's worked with the likes of David Beckham and Lewis Hamilton, to get her top tips for summer styling. Speaking about what inspires her, Constant tells us: "As cliché as it probably sounds, I do pull inspiration from everywhere. I could be walking down the road, and a color or shape will catch my eye, or I could see someone waiting for the bus in an outfit they've thrown on in a hurry that inspires me in some kind of way."

When it comes to styling tips for the summer, Constant cites color-blocking, layering and functional fashion pieces as her go-tos this season. Read on for more styling tips below.

Color Blocking

"Colour blocking isn't just about pairing contrasting colours anymore; this summer, it's about combining different products in the same palette. Think beyond just tops and bottoms -- experiment with swimwear, accessories, shoes, and even makeup to create bold finished looks. Whether it's vibrant neon or subtle pastels, mastering the art of colour blocking allows you to make a statement while showing off your style."

Bold and Bodacious Accessories

"This summer, embrace the mantra 'the bigger, the better' when it comes to accessorizing. Focus on bold statement jewellery that reflects your style to elevate even the simplest of outfits. Try accessories like oversized hoops, bold sunglasses and stacking bracelets," adds Constant.

Monochromatic Textures

Monochrome never goes out of style, but there are ways to update and elevate it as a styling tool. "Embrace the power of monochrome by mixing textures to add depth and dimension to your fit," says Constant. Mixing leathers, mesh and denim in the same colorways is an easy way to add a little something extra.

Low-Rise Silhouettes

"We've seen this trend coming back for a while now but thanks to everyone's love for nostalgia, it's back with a vengeance," Constant explains. Evidenced by brands like Miu Miu and Heaven by Marc Jacobs and Y2K-inspired labels like Paolina Russo and Cannari Concept, there's more ways than ever to wear low-rise silhouettes.

Sheer Layering

We've explored sheer layering in our previous trend spotlights, but according to Constant, it's an easy way to elevate your summer style. "With the art of sheer layering, bold base outfits take centre stage beneath translucent tops. Whether you're layering a sheer shirt over a swimsuit (the classic Nike Swim Retro swimsuit or new the Sneakerkini are my favourite) or a mesh top over a bralette, it allows you to play with texture and depth while showcasing your favourite pieces. Perfect for warm weather, sheer layering allows you to transition effortlessly from day to night," she explains.
