5 Reasons Why J. Crew Paris is Quelle Differént

In the midst of storied French fashion houses and Paris Fashion Week, the most American thing happened: J.Crew opened their first store in France. But they didn’t just plop the US staple in the middle of the Champs-Elysees—they added a French twist. Here’s how:

1. Location, location, location. The American outpost is planted in one of the chicest boutique areas of Paris, Les Marais, which alone made it feel quelle differént!

2. Some of the sales associates dress classically French. Parisian men dressed in classic Saint James sailor striped shirts were doling out sparkly lemonade and madeleine cookies. Though they may have done so because the store is new, the Saint James designer did create 33 one-of-a-kind similar tops (printed with French sayings and Eiffel Tower images) exclusive to the new store.

3. You won’t find all J. Crew products there. The store, which is only the brand’s second European location, carries just women’s high-end collection products, some leather, and a select handful of J. Crew’s classic pieces.

4. The mannequins are street style stars, instead of good girl prepsters.
Think ripped boyfriend jeans and floral bomber jackets; navy track pants, a white leather jacket, and Birkenstocks; and a t-shirt, knee-length skirt, and metallic pumps with tassel straps.

5. It has the chicest knick-knacks. A collaged French art wall is arranged behind the registers, a vintage Parisian mailbox is suspended from the front wall, there are kitschy fur table accessories that look straight out of The Lorax, and chic coffee table books (like 100 Years of Fashion – Paris) are scattered throughout the shop.
