Paris Report: Pierre Hardy for Hermès Says Ankle Boots Are Fine

If there’s one big purchase I’ve been contemplating lately, it’s ankle boots. More specifically, a combat-like pair that also looks polished. And it’s my first east coast winter, so even though we’re about 4, 5, ugh who knows how many months in, I’ve yet to take the plunge for fear I’ll make a rookie mistake. Will I buy a luxurious pair of my dream booties only to fall victim to one of those deceiving black puddles? The thought terrifies me.

And yet…I’m in Paris, for my first ever Paris Fashion Week, and I’ve fallen in love. I’ve fallen in love, and hard, with a pair that warrant extra caution—the most caution—and I am totally OK with that. It all happened at the Hermès
shoe appointment
. Amidst a perfectly calm sea of suede, patent leather, and mirror-toe pumps, boots, and loafers was a pair of Pierre Hardy for Hermès crocodile ankle boots with the brand’s iconic Kelly clasp. Despite being sadly and truly confident that even just the right or left foot won’t adhere to my budgetary restraints, a girl can dream! After all, what’s your first Paris Fashion Week for if not a total eye candy binge. One thing’s for certain: I’ve officially added an item to my #ParisFashionWeek lust list!
