2 Bay Area eateries make most viral restaurant list: study

(KRON) – A study showed that social media can influence 50 percent of restaurant-goers on where to dine. Two Bay Area restaurants are in the top 10 for most viral restaurants in the United States, according to a Betway study.

Two other California restaurants made the top five. It is no surprise that most viral eatery has a beachfront. Nobu Malibu is the most viral restaurant in the US, with over 61,000 Instagram posts. The fourth restaurant with the most virality is a Mediterranean and Middle Eastern restaurant Bavel in downtown Los Angeles’ Art District.

The French Laundry in the Napa Valley is the fifth most viral restaurant, according to the study. The three-Michelin-star French and Californian cuisine restaurant’s building is a rustic two-story stone cottage. According to The French Laundry’s website, a Scottish stonemason built the restaurant as a saloon in 1900.

The French Laundry’s menu changes daily. The restaurant said it commits itself to serving classic French cuisine with the finest ingredients.

House of Prime Rib is the ninth most viral restaurant in the United States, according to a Betway study. The upscale San Francisco stake house says it only serves the top 2 percent of all beef marketed, according to House of Prime Rib’s website.

In addition to the luxurious beef, the atmosphere is cozy and warm – literally. There are multiple fireplaces in the building, perfect for a selfie.

The steakhouse has an extensive wine menu and a cocktail lounge.

House of Prime Rib is located at 1906 Van Ness Avenue in San Francisco. The French Laundry’s address is 6640 Washington Street in Yountville.

Methodology:

Betway utilized research to create a seed list of 100 famous restaurants in the United States and globally. The number of Instagram posts under each restaurant’s hashtag was gathered to determine the most popular on Instagram. The restaurant was removed from the ranking when a relevant hashtag could not be found.
