11 Cutest Dog Sweaters to Keep Canines Cozy This Winter

Sweaters for dogs are not only an adorable fashion statement, they can keep your dog from getting too chilled when the temperatures drop. There are so many choices to choose from, at almost every style and price point, and a lot of what you choose will have to do with your pup's tolerance for wearing clothes in the first place. The first few times we put clothing on our dog as a young puppy, he acted like he was immediately paralyzed and refused to get up from the floor.

Now he's a sweater wearing champ, like so many dogs are.

The above adorable video, shared by the TikTok account for @bambii.maltipoo shows just a few of the cute choices out there.

Some of these dog sweaters are a bit on the pricey side (I mean, $50 is like a human sweater price point) but if you hand wash and line dry them they should last you years to come. Plus, aren't our dogs worth it?

Dogs that really benefit from wearing sweaters and other clothing items in the winter time are those with short hair like Greyhounds or Whippets, elderly or senior dogs, and dogs with medical conditions. These pups tend to have a more difficult time regulating their body temperatures and get cold easier. You should take special precautions when walking these dogs in the cold weather or taking them on a wintertime walk.

You should always monitor your dog when he or she is wearing a sweater. You don't want them to get caught up in it or choke on something.

If your pup seems uncomfortable or upset when trying on a sweater remove the item, give them a treat and some praise, and try again later. Some dogs seem to adore wearing clothing whereas other dogs never enjoy it. And as cute as a dog in a sweater is, nothing is worth making your dog unhappy.
