Senior Beagle Surrendered to VA Shelter with 'Her Sweaters' Is Finally Up for Adoption

This girl is ready for a loving new home!

Our hearts always ache when we hear about animals getting surrendered to shelters. No pet should ever go through the feeling that they are not wanted because it's not true! We especially feel bad for senior animals that end up in shelters. Their last few years should be spent being surrounded by love.

That's why we're hoping social media's magic will work for this 12-year-old Beagle named Abby. The Sanctuary Rescue, a Virginia-based shelter, rescued Abby from another local shelter. From their understanding, the family who previously had Abby underwent major life changes that prevented them from keeping her. Ugh, our hearts just shattered. Take a look at the shelter's Facebook post and tell us this isn't the cutest, sweetest Beagle you've ever seen.

Aww! Anyone would be so lucky to have Abby in their home! In the original post about Abby, the shelter said she was dropped off with her bed, toys, 12 years of vet records, a framed portrait and two bags of sweaters. Stop it! Sweaters?! That's beyond precious!

"Hopefully, people will see that leaving their loved pet with familiarity and the vet records showed compassion and love rather than abandonment," said Facebook user Kelli Woelfel. That's so true! It's so unfortunate when a family has to surrender their pet, but we do understand it happens. Ellen Bialos Fielding added, "So bittersweet, thank you for rescuing her. Somebody definitely loved her so much..." We believe that wholeheartedly!

We have faith that social media will lead her future family to her and there's no doubt in our minds she'll live a happy life for the rest of her days. If you're interested in adopting this precious senior Beagle, please visit the Sanctuary Rescue website or her listing on Petfinder for more information.
