This Is the #1 Best Date To Throw a Holiday Party This Season, According to a Numerologist

Dinner table set up for a holiday party

In between all of the holiday shopping and cooking, people sure do love to throw festive holiday parties this time of year. Christmas, Hanukkah and wintertime, in general, make great reasons to get together with friends, co-workers and family to celebrate the season, making holiday parties a big tradition for many people. But choosing the right date for your holiday party can be tricky. And while planning a party usually involves working around people’s busy schedules, numerology might be able to predict the best dates for your holiday party too.

Numerology looks at the connection between numbers and patterns in behavior, events and more. Similar to astrology, numerology can predict the inner workings of someone’s mind or predict the merit of a specific date for a specific person. For example, Glynis McCants, an expert numerologist, recently told Parade how likely Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are to make it in the long run, according to numerology

So when you want to look at what Saturday in December is going to be the best date to host a holiday party that's successful, fun and drama-free, McCants lays out which three dates in 2023 are the best and why (based on what the numbers say, of course). Plus, she gives the date you should avoid throwing a party as well.

The #1 Best Date To Throw a Holiday Party This Season

First off, McCants shares with Parade that picking the perfect date for someone’s event typically involves looking at the individual’s life path number. But she does note that since we’re talking about Christmas and holiday parties, “there’s all kinds of energy coming to the party.” You’re obviously going to have several different life path numbers attend, so it’s best to look at which dates are going to have the best energy, in general, for a gathering. That being said, she has one clear answer on which date would be ideal for a holiday gathering this year.

“The best date I have is 12/9/2023,” McCants shares with Parade. She explains the way to determine this is by finding a date’s three numbers. You first find the attitude number by adding the month and day together, then reducing it to one number (12/9 is 1+2 +9 = 12, then 1 + 2 = 3). The next number is by looking at just the day and reducing it to one number (in this case, it’s already a single digit with 9). And the final number can be found by taking the whole date, adding it straight across and reducing it to one number. The date is 12/09/2023, which means you take 1 + 2 + 9 + 2 + 0 + 2 + 3 = 19, then take 1+9 = 10, finally doing 1 + 0 = 1.

Since the attitude number for Dec. 9, 2023 is a 3, McCants—who is the author of Love by the Numbers and Glynis Has Your Number—shares that this “means laughter, communication, it's playful, it's fun, it's social. Like people coming to this party, they're going to feel alive and excited.”

Looking at the day number, which is a 9, and the whole date adding up to a 1, the expert numerologist shares that this means everyone at the party is going to feel included because “the basic numbers in numerology are 1 through 9.”

“You know, sometimes you go to a party and you feel ignored. It's not that kind of party when you've got 1 and 9,” McCants shares. “It means everyone has something to say. People can connect with each other.”

And even though the 1 promotes a competitive energy, meaning that some people might want to show off or cause drama, the 9 of this day shuts it down. “[It says,] ‘Remember why we're here. We're just here to connect, love each other and celebrate the fact that we're still together… That our friendships have lasted, that our love relationships are solid.’ That is what that energy promotes.”

Two December Weekdays That Have the Same Great Energy for Throwing a Holiday Party

Between the fact that Dec. 9, 2023 is the best Saturday date to host a holiday party based on numerology and it falls in that sweet spot between Christmastime and right after Hanukkah starts, it makes a lot of practical sense that this date works the best.

However, in addition to that Saturday date, McCants gave us some weekday dates. The next best dates to host your Christmas parties are Monday, Dec. 18, 2023, and Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2023, because they have the same energy as Dec. 9. So, if you're trying to figure out when to celebrate in the workplace or after work with friends, these are your two best options.

“It breaks down the same. If one plus eight is nine [on 12/18], we're dealing with 9 energy,” McCants shares, pointing out how the 18th breaks down to the same date number as the 9th. “The actual day—the month and day—is still a 3 and the whole date is a 1. Same thing for the 27th; 2 plus 7 is 9. The month and day break down to a 3. The actual day is a nine [27 breaks down to 2 + 7 = 9] and the full date added straight across reduces to the number 1.”

That’s one of the fascinating things about numerology; you can have completely different dates (whether it’s birthdays, special occasions, major events or holidays), but they share similar energies to one another because the numbers break down to similar patterns. Just like how McCants predicted how successful Taylor Swift’s 1989 (Taylor’s Version) would be based only on its release date and numerology, she can see how a holiday party will pan out thanks to the numbers.

The Date You Shouldn't Throw a Holiday Party

So now that we have down the three major dates that bring the best energy to your future holiday party—Dec. 9, Dec. 18 and Dec. 27, 2023—McCants also shared the date that should “would not pick for anybody.” And that’s Dec. 16, 2023.

12/16, added straight across to get the first number (the attitude number) reduces the number to the single digit of 1. A 1 attitude number means that that competitive feeling comes out in full force. Without a 9 or other number to help combat that, the confrontational energy of the day will really show up at your holiday party if you host it on Dec. 16.

McCants warns that there would likely be heated discussion around politics, religion or other controversial topics if they are brought up. Also, she adds. “The other thing I noticed at a party when you have the 1 attitude [number] is everyone seems to want to talk at the exact same time. So no one's really listening.”

She also points out that the day itself reduces down to a 7 (1 + 6 = 7), and a 7 promotes a bit of introverted energy and “having thoughts within yourself.”

“Something can be troubling you and you just kind of want to be by yourself,” McCants explains. “And it also promotes needing that time alone or feeling like you're just not feeling the need to connect with others too much. Well, you can see where that would be a problem at a party, unless it's a very small party, right?”

So unless you’re having a get-together with a handful of four or six people, a bigger Christmas or holiday party might face this problem. Despite having that 1 attitude number promoting talking over each other and not listening (which is also not great), people might also just want to keep to themselves or not be in as much of a chit-chatty and happy mood.
