What's In My Gym Bag: Barry's Bootcamp Instructor Noah Neiman

We’re taking a peek inside our favorite health and fitness experts’ gym bags to uncover their must-have gear and favorite products.

Name: Noah Neiman, Barry’s Bootcamp instructor and star of the upcoming Bravo TV show Work Out New York

Where I workout: Barry’s Bootcamp or my private gym.

My favorite workout: Barry’s Bootcamp, Nike workouts, boxing, traditional strength training, track and field workouts.

My fitness routine: The extreme nature of that kick right as Leonidas was screaming “This Is Sparta~” … but in workout form. I am a fan girl for the basics. Heavy lifting with the classics — like squats, deadlifts, overhead presses, the bench press, pull-ups, and dips, mixed in with conditioning work. Not cardio, which is what you do when you scroll through Instagram whilst on the elliptical. True cardiovascular training: sprints, rowing, boxing, plyometrics, fighting sabre-toothed tigers.

What’s in my gym bag:

1. Nike towel. I was given this the first time Nike flew me out to Portland. It has sentimental value and always reminds me there is more work to be done.

2. Reyes boxing gloves. These were given to me by my mate Brendan Francis, a 220-pound Australian who sparked my love for boxing by repeatedly being able to hit me with rib shots and blackening my eye. I keep them hanging on the outside of my gym bag. This way, people on the sidewalk won’t bother me, because they’ll think I’m tough (not knowing that I’m only semi-tough fighting against an opponent with no arms … a.k.a. a punching bag, like a speed or heavy bag).

3. Extra pair of Nike shoes. One pair to wear to the gym, one pair to wear in the gym. You have to keep your entrance attire looking clean. Deion Sanders said if you feel like you look good, you perform well. I need all the help I can get.

4. Beats by Dre Bluetooth headphones. Gifted to me by my main man Neil over at Bandier clothing boutique. He saw me using a Sony Walkman attached to old-school headphones and he didn’t want to see his friend riding dirty like that. Thanks Neil and the good doc Dr. Dre!

5. Apple Watch. Apple has been kind enough to always keep me with the newest tech so I can keep my business operating smoothly on the go. I eat walking down the sidewalk and my butt cheeks don’t hit a seat from 7 a.m. to 10 at night, so it’s nice to not have to check my phone all the time. Especially during a workout, I can see if there’s any urgent messages that must be taken immediately. It allows me to be present in my workout and not worried I’m missing an important call, email, or text. There is also a big gifting theme going here. Lucky. Rent in NYC is ludicrous.

6. Olbas inhaler. I’m addicted to the eucalyptus scent! Koalas are my anti-hero spirit animal. Their laziness intrigues me. The vapors from this inhaler are great for opening up your sinuses when you’re 12 rounds deep hitting the heavy bag, and your lungs feel like they are going to go on strike if you don’t take in more oxygen.

7. 32-ounce water jug. Because hydration.

8. BioSteel: One of my favorite pre- and peri-workout drinks. I sip a little before and throughout my workout. I feel like it keeps my muscles spinach-ed up like Popeye.
