This 'Game of Thrones' Pop-Up Restaurant Is Really Happening

Care to dine like a king, Game of Thrones-style? From February 13th to the 15th, a few lucky Brits will have a chance at a London pop-up aptly called "All Men Must Dine." (Get it? It’s a play on the credo “valar morghulis.” GOT fans know what we’re talking about.)

To nab an invite, would-be diners must answer the following question over at HBO’s U.K. website: “Who is your favorite Game of Thrones character, and what would you cook to win their heart?” Unlike the real Kingdom of Westeros, this is a meritocracy: The best answers win a seat.

So what can the fortunate winners anticipate? According to a press release, guests shall “sample the finest delicacies Westeros has to offer over multiple courses.” Among them, a (less-deadly) version of the poisoned elixir that offed King Joffrey, and a dish called “The Lies of Tyrion Lannister and His Proclaimed Innocence” (poached veal tongue with beetroot, “Oldtown mustard,” and horseradish). If that doesn’t excite you, stop what you’re doing and watch this.

Platters like those in the “Red Wedding” scene will make an appearance at the pop-up.

The kitchen will be helmed by The Wandering Chef, a U.K.-based outfit known for its immersive, theatrical parties. Co-owner Jamie Hazeel couldn’t divulge much about what he’ll serve, but revealed that they’ll be “based on matters the show’s small council might have discussed.”

A tightlipped HBO representative further revealed that the setting will be a lavish marble-floored room at the Andaz Liverpool Street hotel, and long banquet-style tables will be set with replicas of trays and plates used during the show’s “Red Wedding” scene. (Fearing for your safety? Don’t worry: Reps assured us that “All Men Must Dine” will have a more joyous conclusion than that notorious scene.) Original memorabilia from GOT will also be on display, and waiters will be suited up in their Westeros finest.

Perhaps a flowing Khaleesi-style tunic, or King Joffrey’s gilded stag’s crown? Whatever’s in the offing, we desperately wish we were in London right now. At least the Game of Thrones-inspired beer from Ommegang brewery is available stateside.
