Today’s cake comes from Carrie Sellman, founder and editor of The Cake Blog. It’s a blog! About cakes! Some of the best cakes, from some of the most talented bakers, including Tessa Huff and Lyndsay Sung.

Sellman grew passionate for cake design when searching for her own wedding cake; she even left her career in software to pursue life as a baker, opening her own cake shop in Florida. Now, she devotes her time to The Cake Blog.

For the decadence pictured here, Sellman starts with peanut butter balls dipped in chocolate, also known as buckeyes. She then bakes three layers of rich chocolate cake and frosts it with peanut butter buttercream. Then comes the chocolate ganache, and then the rosettes piped on top to hold the buckeyes in place. Phew!
