Cake of the Day: Yahoo's 20th Birthday Cake

image

Yahoo turned 20 today! The year was 1995 when two Stanford graduate students, Jerry Yang and David Filo, created a directory of websites to try to navigate what was, at the time, a newfangled space called the Internet. (Well, technically, they created Jerry and David’s Guide to the World Wide Web in 1994; the company officially launched as Yahoo in 1995.) To celebrate, we rang the Nasdaq bell, we reflected on the past couple decades, and we ate cake.

You know what they say: 20 years, 20 layers. At least that’s what we say. To celebrate our company’s birthday, Studio Cake's BethAnn Goldberg baked a 36”-tall purple Funfetti cake with vanilla frosting with one layer to represent each year of our existence. Little Cat Design created custom cake toppers: glittery purple and silver spheres. Ya-HOO!
