Group A brought the action on Transformers Night.

Goldfish, Lovebird, Starfish and Ugly Sweater returned to the Masked Singer stage on Wednesday and had to fend off a wildcard competitor while covering songs that appeared in a Transformers movie. Optimus Prime opened with a message to the contestants: “We are here. We are ready.”

With that, Starfish kicked off the evening.

“While other kids played in the sandbox, I played with the jukebox,” Starfish said in her clue package. “That machine transformed my life.”

Starfish shouted out Eric Clapton, Fleetwood Mac and Green Day in her clue package, which also showed a “live” sign, as well as one for the teachers’ lounge.

“This Starfish is versatile, baby,” the sea star proclaimed.

Starfish covered “21 Guns” by Green Day and afterwards, judge Jenny McCarthy declared, “We adore you.”

Optimus Prime offered up an additional clue for Starfish. “Starfish has earned awards as part of a talented group,” Optimus said.

The panel, which also includes Ken Jeong, Rita Ora and Robin Thicke, suggested Starfish might be Saturday Night Live alums Tina Fey, Amy Poehler or Maya Rudolph.

Ugly Sweater unraveled on stage next.

“When I met my soulmate, we couldn’t be more opposite,” Ugly Sweater said in his clue package that featured a stop sign and a fire sale tag. “My life was unraveling and hers was all buttoned up. I was consignment, she was couture. I was on top of the charts and she didn’t know who I was.”

The garment added that his wife “built me up one brick at a time.”

Ugly Sweater tackled “Brick House” by the Commodores.

Then Bumblebee shared an extra clue for Ugly Sweater. “He earned himself a lifetime achievement award,” Bumblebee teased.

Lionel Richie and Smokey Robinson arose as options for Ugly Sweater.

Lovebird perched on stage after Ugly Sweater.

“The world got to know me as somebody I wasn’t,” Lovebird said in his clue package. “But I was celebrated, so I ran with it. Eventually, I had to escape the cage I was trapped in and the truth is what set me free.”

The clues package also included golden popcorn, a racing flag and cameras 24/7.

Lovebird sang the Goo Goo Dolls’ “All That You Are.”

Optimus Prime returned with an additional clue for Lovebird: “Lovebird has made television history and he is looking to do that again by winning the Golden Mask.”

The panel suggested former Bachelors Nick Viall and Colton Underwood, Jersey Shore’s Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino and Dwayne Johnson as possibilities for Lovebird.

Next up, Goldfish talked in her clue package about going through public breakups.

“Dating in Hollywood is hard and this Goldfish wasn’t always lucky,” she said, adding that her run-ins with her exes would be turned into TikTok videos.

A Christmas snow globe and a vampire bat popped up in the clue package, too.

Goldfish put her spin on “Baby Come Back” by Player.

“I just want to say, she gilled it,” Thicke, 47, joked.

For an additional clue, Bumblebee said that Goldfish “famously poured their heart, soul and tears into her work.”

Nina Dobrev, Sarah Hyland and Kristen Stewart came up as ideas for who might be under the Goldfish mask.

Wildcard contestant Koala entered the competition last.

“I’m actually kinda shy,” Koala admitted in his clue package, which also had a captain’s hat and a sign for Colorado. “When I first started out, I wasn’t superstar material. I avoided interviews. And if you put me on the spot, I’d forget my words.”

But Koala revealed he “was forced to speak up” after landing his first hit, “and everything changed.”

Koala gave his rendition of “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” by Tears for Fears, which he started performing outside the studio before moving to the stage.

“That was easily the biggest surprise of the evening,” Thicke said.

Optimus Prime returned to give one final clue for the night. “He’s on a short list with some of the greatest of all time,” the bot said.

The judges thought Koala could be Terry Crews, Michael Irvin or Deion Sanders.

Host Nick Cannon announced that Transformers Night would be a double elimination, so after the studio audience and panel voted for their favorite performance of the night, the two contestants with the fewest votes would unmask.

First, Cannon, 43, revealed that Lovebird would be going home. McCarthy’s guess of TV personality Underwood, 32, ended up appearing underneath the full-figured bird costume.

Finally, the father of 12 declared that newcomer Koala would be leaving. The bear turned out to be former NFL player DeMarcus Ware.
