You can be forgiven if you do not remember the details of Czinger's mind-bending 21G. When it was debuted back in late February of 2020, the world was ready for a 3D-printed American hypercar with two center-mounted seats and two equally massive butterfly doors covering both rows. Over the next three weeks, the gravity of the COVID-19 pandemic seemed to become clear all at once; even the Geneva Motor Show, where the car was set to be physically debuted, was canceled within a week of the reveal.

But the Czinger 21G is a car worth remembering. At Laguna Seca, the Czinger is faster than a McLaren Senna. Or any other car, for that matter.

The 1200 hp hybrid hypercar is far from humble, but its relatively simple design hides just how fast the car actually is. What looks like a Lotus-style track toy is in fact a true hybrid powerhouse, one that Czinger claimed back in February of last year could hit 60 in under two seconds. It tops out at an equally astonishing 270 MPH, all while producing downforce levles that CEO Kevin Czinger describes as "GT3 car plus in terms of being glued to the track".

While all of that is certainly an obvious recipe for impressive speed, the scale of that speed might be surprising. Until last week, the McLaren Senna held the recently-prestigious production car track record at Laguna Seca with a time of 1:27.62. In a film released by Czinger yesterday, the company has revealed that racing driver Joel Miller took their production-spec 21G around the legendary track in 1:25.44, more than two seconds faster than the previous record.

It is also about three seconds more quick than the electric record at Laguna Seca, set earlier this week. The hybrid Czinger and all-electric Model S Plaid are just two of three produciton cars that currently claim a 0-60 time under 2 seconds.

80 Czinger 21Gs will be produced. Provided you are willing to sit in tandem with your passenger, your 3D-printed revolution can be had for a mere $1.7 million.
