If you’re like me and you’ve already binge-watched hits like Virgin River, Sweet Magnolias, Emily in Paris and Dead to Me, you’re probably looking for more of the best shows on Netflix. Luckily, the streaming service has a ton of movies and shows to choose from in its top-rated section, which ranks popular titles based on what’s trending. The best part? The list is updated daily, making it an ideal place for me to find new suggestions (like Tires).

From Queen Charlotte to Ashley Madison: Sex, Lies and Scandal, keep reading for the top ten Netflix series and my personal editor's pick of the week.

Editor’s Pick of the Week: The Queen's Gambit

  • Who’s in it: Anya Taylor-Joy, Bill Camp, Marielle Heller, Moses Ingram,

  • How many seasons: 1

  • For fans of: Self Made: Inspired by the Life of Madam C. J. Walker

  • Genre: Drama

Maybe it's because Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is hitting the theaters, but I've had Anya Taylor-Joy on the brain. While the fast-paced action of Furiosa isn't my style, the cerebral, emotional drama of The Queen's Gambit most definitely is. When it first premiered in 2020, I watched it over my brother's shoulder but finally finished all seven episodes last week. ICYMI: The series follows orphan Beth Harmon (Taylor-Joy), a chess prodigy who rapidly rises through the ranks, all while balancing (and ultimately battling) a growing alcohol and drug addiction. With the help of some brilliant friends, she'll have to find a way to beat the Russian Grandmaster Vasily Borgov in the match of a lifetime.
